Over the past month, messages have been flooding my inbox about street food in Hanoi – thus, it has inspired this a foodie post!! Finding where to eat in this chaotic city is difficult, I 100% understand, hopefully this guide helps you navigate all the deliciousness!

Grilled Chicken with noodles and herbs, yum!

Hanoi Street Food:

These next dishes are my top picks for street food in Hanoi! You will be able to find these all over the city, but I have linked my favorite spots to eat them!

Noodle Dishes:

Bun Bo Nam Bo – Southern Vietnamese style stir-fried garlic beef with rice noodles and herbs. Be sure to order a Banh Bao to accompany it and put lots of the garlic vinegar on top! Get it at Bún bò Nam Bộ.

Bun Thit Nuong: This is a southern styled dish of rice noodles, herbs, fish sauce and grilled meat. I love the veggie version at Gon Veggies and Bites.

Bun Cha – Charcoal grilled pork patties in a broth of garlic, kumquat, fish sauce – add fresh herbs, chillies and rice noodles on top! This is one of my all time favorites!

Pho Cuon – rice noodle, rolled with beef, lettuce and herbs, along with a mild fish sauce and green mango dip. Get this at Phở Cuốn Hương Mai.

Bun Reiu – A tomato based crab rice noodle soup, beef and sausages sometimes are added. Add fresh herbs and Khue (a fried doughnut) on top! You can get this at Bún riêu cua Hàng Bạc – no website but here is the address: 11 Hàng Bạc, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội

Pho – All time Vietnamese breakfast favorite! Can be made with chicken (Ga) or beef (Bo). Add Khue, lime juice, and chillies for best flavor! A great place for this at Phở 10 Lý Quốc Sư

Bun Dao – A lunchtime specialty, fried tofu, fish cakes and spring roll with rice noodles and fresh herbs! You can dip it in a very potent shrimp sauce, or a more mild fish sauce. My best bun dao experiences have been from just ladies who sell it on the street!

Rice Dishes:

Com Binh Dan – A traditional rice meal where you can pick various amounts of toppings to put on the rice, many vegetarian options along with meat options. Best place to get this is Quán Phở 3 Chị Em.

Com Rang Dua Xao – Vietnamese style crunchy fried rice, with pickled cabbage. You can get it everywhere but a good restaurant is Spicy Phở Bay.

Fried Dishes:

My Xao – stir fried noodles, you can add veggies or what ever meat of your choosing. You can get this at most restaurants, a favorite place is Spicy Phở Bay.

Pho Phong Chien – Fried thick pieces of pho noodle, stir fried with vegetables and beef. Get it at Phở Cuốn Hương Mai.
